This basic course is designed for developers who want to understand JOSE and how it is supported in DataPower.

Prerequisites

You should have:

  • Basic knowledge of message security concepts like signatures and encryption.

For the DataPower specific support, you should be familiar with IBM DataPower Version 6 or later.

Product Description

This course provides an overview of the JSON Object Signing and Encryption (JOSE) family of specifications, and the support for JOSE in Version 7.2 of the IBM DataPower Gateway Appliance.

The course describes the JOSE approach and its underlying specifications: JSON Web Algorithms (JWA), JSON Web Key (JWK), JSON Web Signature (JWS), and JSON Web Encryption (JWE). It describes the support for JOSE in DataPower Version 7.2, and provides high-level examples of signing, verifying, encrypting, and decrypting a payload by using the JOSE support.

This course is a prerequisite for some other DataPower courses.
